Our Squadron

The Sonoma County Composite Squadron 157 is located in Santa Rosa, California at the beautiful Sonoma County Airport. We are a composite squadron which consists of Cadet members and Adult members. Sonoma County Composite Squadron 157 started out in 1990 as two squadrons. We were Cadet squadron 115 and Senior squadron 42. Both squadrons were located here at the Sonoma County Airport, the adults met in the location we are at now and the cadets met at the Cal Fire base on the north end of the airport. The two squadrons were combined together to create a composite squadron and the numbers were combined to create 157. Through this merger, we have been able to better meet the mission of the Civil Air Patrol and better serve our community.

On January 29, 2023, we changed our name from Redwood Empire Composite Squadron 157 to Sonoma County Composite Squadron 157, in order to show our continued support for our community. This renaming also aligns us with the standardization and image of the Civil Air Patrol.

The cadet program has kids who range in age from 12 to 21. These kids may be focused on going to the military or they may just be interested in bettering themselves. Each meeting focuses on one of the required topics: Leadership, Character Development, Aerospace Education and Physical Training.

The Senior side is for adults ranging in age from 18 and up. They are able to focus on specialty tracks that they find interesting to them. There are a wide range but one of the biggest for our squadron, is the Cadet Programs Specialty Track. The members in this track are focused on working with the Cadets directly.

The cadet side meets every Monday night (6:30 PM) at the Squadron 157 Headquarters (next door to the Pacific Coast Air Museum). Cadets are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.

Senior members meet every first and third Monday of the month. The first meeting of the month focuses on safety and general announcements relating to the Squadron and the Civil Air Patrol. The second meeting of the month focuses on trainings for all members of the squadron, primarily Emergency Services.. We hope you will come out, check us out, and if it is something you are interested in, you will join us.
