Squadron Commander - 1st Lt Nicholas Kebodeaux

1st Lieutenant Nick Kebodeaux was born and raised in Sonoma County and graduated from Analy High School in 2011. Nick joined the Civil Air Patrol as a cadet member in 2006 with Redwood Empire Composite Squadron 157. 1st Lt. Kebodeaux rose through the cadet ranks attaining the grade of Cadet Captain, working through different staff positions, and eventually becoming Cadet Commander and Cadet Color Guard Commander for Squadron 157. 1st Lt. Kebodeaux transitioned to the Adult Member side of Civil Air Patrol, becoming the Deputy Commander for Cadets, and eventually taking over as the Commander of Squadron 157. 1st Lt. Kebodeaux has worked hard to maintain a balance between bringing the squadron into the modern age while maintaining the traditions of the past.

1Lt Kebodeaux has been proactive in bringing the squadrons emergency services into the modern age. In 2021, 1Lt. Kebodeaux was able to bring the squadron into a "ready-op" status for missions by requesting for a internet linked repeater extender. 1Lt. Kebodeaux is very proactive in Search and Rescue training, Emergency Communications, and the Cadet Program. 1Lt. Kebodeaux has worked diligently to ensure the squadron is able to provide for the local community in a time of need. 

1Lt. Kebodeaux has worked a variety of jobs which have contributed to a wealth of knowledge in various fields. Most recently, 1Lt. graduated the Santa Rosa Junior College's police academy in December 2021 and became a sworn police officer. In his spare time, 1Lt. Kebodeaux, enjoys spending time outdoors whether it be camping or mountain biking. 1Lt Kebodeaux also enjoys spending time with his family and friends. 

Deputy Commander for Cadets - Captain Michael Llamas

Captain Michael Llamas is a Sonoma County native who joined Civil Air Patrol as a cadet member in 2009 with Redwood Empire Composite Squadron 157. During his cadet career, he participated as this squadron’s Cadet Commander, Team Captain for the Squadron 157 Color Guard, and as Cadet First Sergeant at several Group 5 events. Captain Llamas left the cadet program as a C/Chief Master Sergeant when he changed to Senior Member status in 2011. 

In 2017, Captain Llamas left CAP for a short while to attend law school and become an attorney. He attended the University of San Francisco (USF) School of Law where he competed as a member of the USF Maritime Moot Court Competition Team, became the Editor-in-Chief of the USF Maritime Law Journal, and tutored other law students in a multitude of substantive legal topics. Captain Llamas also worked for a cyber finance firm in San Francisco while in school, where he helped the company develop an AI software product which could recognize financial and legal contexts in published documents. Since graduating law school, Captain Llamas began his legal career in public service by becoming a Deputy District Attorney for Contra Costa County handling misdemeanor criminal trials and appeals. He simultaneously worked for a civil firm, Mosaic Law PC, where he represented private clients in business, construction, real estate, and general civil litigation matters in Santa Clara County. In January 2022, Captain Llamas brought his legal experience back to Sonoma County where he currently serves the community as a Deputy District Attorney for the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office. 

In 2021, Captain Llamas rejoined CAP with his home squadron. Currently, Captain Llamas participates in a number of capacities. At Squadron 157, he currently holds the position of Deputy Squadron Commander, overseeing both cadet and senior operations. At the Wing Level, Captain Llamas currently holds the positions of Director of Personnel and Assistant Legal Officer. In Emergency Services, Captain Llamas is a fully qualified sUAS Mission Pilot flying unmanned aircraft (or “drones”) for CAP. He is currently seeking to become an sUAS Instructor Pilot to train other CAP members in sUAS operations. In the realm of Professional Development, Captain Llamas is also a Volunteer University Instructor helping Senior Members progress through their Professional Development levels.
